The rechargeable NiMH battery is a 18V, 3.5Ah battery with a typical capacity for 100 single page reports or 6 hrs. continuous display without printing. Typical charge time is approximately 4.5 hours from total discharge with the display off.
Battery Gauge Indicator
When the MAC 5500 is plugged into AC wall outlet, the green light on the upper left will be illuminated and the amber battery light will be lit. When the MAC 5500 is plugged in and the amber light is not on, it is possible that the battery is fully charged. If the machine is not plugged into an AC wall outlet and the battery needs charging, the amber light will flash.

The battery gauge icon appears in the upper right corner of the active screen display. The battery gauge tells you how much charge your system’s battery has available and when the system is charging the battery.
To Fully Charge the GE MAC 5500 Battery
- Power off the system.
- Connect the system to an AC wall outlet.
- Charge the system’s battery 4-5 hours or until the battery gauge icon indicates a full charge.
When Should You Charge the Battery?
Before Initial Use: To ensure a fully charged battery, charge the system before you use it for the first time.
